Work
I'm really happy with the work I've been able to do so far. I really love graphic design. I'm thinking of offering my services as a writer as well. I don't know what that would entitle though. Anyone have any ideas?
Twitter fiction PE
I really like the story form of twitter fictions. I've been finished my story for class for almost a week now. I'm contemplating writing my own just for fun. I'll definitely post here if I do.

Reading Reflection # 5
Phoenix Confederation

I realize
this is a little bit unconventional but this weekend I spent my free time
reading over my own book. I didn’t really read anything else so I can really
write this about anything else, sorry.
I’m sure I
could go on forever about my personal, or self to text, connections to this
book, it’s mine after all. My main text-to-self connection, and I’ll only use
one, would be to the male main character James, yes I talk about him a lot.
James is, in a lot of ways, my version of a perfect man. My boyfriend Dev is
also very much like James as well. I guess Jamie is also much like my Dev since
the entire time I’ve been writing this book I’ve been with him.
A so what
for my book was freedom from affliction and dictatorship. All the books I write
have that sort of basic theme, a corrupt government, an evil queen; you know,
“the norm”. I actually don’t know why I enjoy both reading and writing books
with that general theme, I guess it’s just my thing. My main character Shawna
was born inside the “royalty” per say, of the confederation but ever since her
boyfriend Jasper was killed, she has rebelled against it. Making her a perfect
target for James and his rebellion, but for the first time James sees Shawna he
falls for her. The book is really the two of them living through the rebellion
together on the front lines, whether it’s in the war or the negotiation they
work together to free their world from the corrupt ruling of the confederation.
Hopefully
you can look for Phoenix Confederation on the shelves late next year, until
then though I hope you can enjoy imagining.

Writing Reflection #3
Writing Reflection #3
I know this is a little late. I
just remembered that I had missed the class where we had started the memoirs and
there for had nothing to write about for this week.
I think my memoir writing went
pretty well. I chose to stay in the classroom because I find it a lot more
comfortable to write in a chair the sitting in the hallway somewhere so this
makes more sense for me. The class room is pretty quiet anyway. I get my best
work done in quiet spaces when there’s nothing to distract me or sidetrack me;
I have ADD so that isn’t very hard.
I was
neutral on this form I guess, the pros and cons balance each other out. For the
pros I would say I really enjoyed the visual aspect of this form of writing, I’m
a designer so it was nice to have something I’m particularly good at. As for
the cons I would say it would have to be the word count. It felt very short to
me since I’m normally the long winded author type with the nice long novel; six
words was a little tight. Although I will admit it brought out the poet in me,
something I haven’t seen in quite a while.
I think I
learnt that when necessary I can condense my writing without losing too much of
the meaning. I also realized that I’m a bit to critical when it come to my
photography; just a little bit of a perfectionist.
As I said
before the hardest part was condensing my writing and still making sure it had
meaning. The most rewarding part on the other hand would have been seeing the
pictures and the words come together so nicely. It really wasn’t until I seen
that that I realized what a great writing form this is.
As for my
blogging I wouldn’t say that’s coming easily. I’ve never been very good at
keeping a journal so the hardest part for me would just be finding the time to
post. I guess my favorite part would be the community of it. I like the quick
and easy connection to all these other talented writers. In the next while my
goal is just to post more and truly personalize my blog.

6 Word Memoir #6
This is my family category. I chose parents because of everyone in my family the person who has inspired me most is my mom. I lost my mom nearly 3 yrs ago on November 26th. My mom was my role model, a singer/song writer, an athlete, and most of all the most amazing and supportive mom anyone could ever be. I miss her so much, love you moma.
6 Word Memoir #5
This is for my past category. I chose mistakes made because I have really good hind sight. When I first dated my love we didn't see each other much. We were young though and we were both really shy. After just over 7 months I ended up leaving him because I thought I had found someone else. I would probably call this the worst mistake of my life.
6 Word Memoir #4
This is my memoir for growing up. I chose the relationships category because that is kind of my area of expertise. I find some people don't know the person they think they love well enough when they commit to them and as they get to know each other they realize they aren't good for each other at all.

Writing Reflection #8
I actually really enjoyed the Newspaper
Blackout Poetry. I did have a little bit of a problem at first, probably doesn’t
help that my first poem was the longest and most definitely the most difficult.
I find I was trying to say what I wanted to say rather than finding the words
that stood out and letting them speak. Once I realized that there were actually
really beautiful poems under the articles I found it a lot easier to just pull
out the special words.
I think my biggest problem was
actually getting the poems on the construction paper and getting that on the
wall. Lefties and scissors just don’t mix nicely.
Now as for the unique qualities
of this type of writing; I think I found a few. I really liked the idea of
changing something as normal as a newspaper article into something entirely
different. I’m pretty sure that’s what the author of the newspaper black out
book said too. (Sorry his name is escaping me at the moment.) He was really right,
after the few poems I did that has to be my favorite part.
Another thing I liked was just
this whole subtractive way of writing. Every other form of writing I know is
adding words to a page and making it speak the way you want, and trust me I
have nothing against that; I totally love writing my novels. Still taking words
away the way this style requires is something totally new to me and I really
liked it.
Finally I like how this form of
writing is so short and sweet, so to speak. I write novels most commonly and I
know I can be very long winded so this type of writing is really something new
to me, and I totally love it. I’m not giving up my novel anytime but it
definitely changed the way I look at word count.

Prep Work
Hello again. This week I’ve been
looking at the idea of a new book. My main character is a 17 year old girl and
for the introduction we are introduced to her as well as her boyfriend, also
known as the love of her life; but what happens when she loses him.
Due to some current BS going on
in my life as well as my recent interest in a certain mythical creature I have
been having a bit of a difficult time with the book I had been writing, I sort
of lost my inspiration. It’s been quite a while since this has happened to me
but it seems I might have to put Phoenix Confederation on the back burner for a
little while.
Have you ever had that feeling
that you just have to get words from pen to paper. That burning that says you’re
not allowed to do anything else and takes all other creativity away from you until
you just give in. That’s truly how I’m feeling with this new idea. It’s sort of
taking over my conscious thought.
I’m not giving away details other
than that little brief but the reason I’m putting this into a reading
reflection rather than a writing reflection is because I haven’t actually
started the writing yet. All I’m going to say is there is so much to know about
the creature I’m writing about and so much I didn’t actually know; it really
surprised me.
